September 20, 2009

I had some family commitments on Saturday so my scouting activity was on Sunday. Ed Allen and I went out early to Camp Lowden to help prepare the closing luncheon for the Wood Badge course.
Fun in the Kitchen.

The patrols presented their flags to the Scoutmaster Tom Siefken.

On our way out of camp we stopped at the Boeger Leadership Lodge to check on the progress from during the week. A number of additions with the subfloor being in stalled in the kitchen, the tile going in the downstairs bathrooms, stairs to the porch on the east side of the building, the new larger lights by the front door, and the front door was stained to match the exterior.

Generations Connection

Generations Connection is the BSA Anniversary program that consists of two different things. The first is the ability to go on-line and develop a scouting family tree along with any stories of what scouting has meant to your family. The other aspect of the program is the ability to order an Anniversary Tree from the Arbor Day Foundation. For $20 you receive one tree and a second tree is donated to be planted in the Centennial Forest near Glacier National Park to replenish a burned area.

Recruit, Recruit, Recruit

This time of year is our biggest recruiting season. Every unit can use some help. I spent the last two evenings at one of the elementary schools helping to recruit Cub Scouts. We got five new names and contact information and several others that took information. If they all show up with a couple of friends that could be 15 new scouts.
